We work with various clubs, rescues and shelters as well as SPCA and Humane Society to promote pet welfare.
Every year, BC SPCA branches across the province host a walk to fundraise in their community. With no provincial or federal funding, our branches rely on public donations to operate as a shelter for abused, injured, and abandoned animals. Animal and family-friendly, each Scotiabank & BC SPCA Paws for a Cause walk hosts various event activities at a public park where like-minded animals lovers come together to make a difference.

CCRT – Canadian Chihuahua Rescue and Transport was founded by a Canadian who realized the need for a breed specific dog rescue organization. In 1996, the Secretary of the Chihuahua Club of America learned of a breeder in Texas who developed Alzheimer’s and ‘forgot’ her 17 Chihuahuas. By the time this was discovered, the Chihuahuas were in pretty bad shape. The breeder’s family members gave permission to allow the Chihuahuas to be taken into foster care until permanent homes could be found.

CERA (Canine Education Rescue and Adoption) Dog Society is a group of dedicated volunteers working for the welfare of stray and abandoned dogs in Taiwan and the British Columbia lower mainland. The organization’s name reflects our mandate of educating people about responsible dog ownership and helping dogs find their own forever loving home. Dog abuse and abandonment are widespread in Taiwan. Strays living on the street face a very dangerous and difficult life, eventually lost in over-crowded shelters ending up on death row. All the dogs that come through CERA have been examined by veterinarians, neutered/spayed, are up to date on vaccinations, and micro-chipped.
